Some memories survive only because we won’t let them go
A sunflower in a small wooden box
under a glass roof
on a bedside table.
Not allowed to die,
never allowed to live,
kept as if time could be held still.
Its color faded long ago,
but the box is beautiful.

One who is still alive but unseen, neglected, their spirit left to whither away in isolation. This is painfully felt. 💙
