Initial reflection
Love doesn't have to be about grand gestures or dramatic declarations. Sometimes, it can be found in the smallest of details: a laugh shared, the quiet understanding between two people, a hand that holds mine when I'm nervous or afraid, a look, a simple touch that can reach the deepest corner of my soul, a voice that calms me when all I want to do is send everyone to hell, the hug that I don't even have to ask for, the feeling of coming home - and home is a person - the ability to silence everything and everyone around us just by existing, ...
Today’s poem celebrates the everyday moments that make love magical and deeply comforting. It's about seeing each other for who we are and finding peace in that connection, even amid life's chaos, finding strength and certainty in that connection when life itself is so challenging and uncertain.
Today’s poem
I love you because you make me happy
And because you do it so well.
You make me feel good
And I know I do the same for you:
I make you feel good.
I love you because you see me like no one else,
You understand me like no one else.
We understand each other so well.
You hear the words I don't say,
You see beyond my eyes,
And even though I try, I can't
I just can't hide it,
I can't escape your gaze.
I love how you take such good care of me.
The way love should be,
Simple and magical: just like this.
I love the way you look at me
And how you ravage me,
Stirring me mercilessly,
Intensely,
In ways I can't explain.
And I love the intensity with which you live,
The way you look at me and kiss me.
The way you hold me.
The way you desire me.
I love how you get awkward and embarrassed
When you let your heart speak.
I love how you use humor as your shield
When you're uncomfortable
And want to escape.
I love that you steal my laughter
With jokes that are unlike anyone else's.
You make me laugh so well.
I love how you relax next to me
Or when you touch my skin.
I love your passionate smile.
And tomorrow, I'll love you even more.
Because I love every little detail of you
And I want to love you much more.
I love that your heart is mine
And that you are, for me,
Even in times of war,
Peace.
Love is found in the quiet moments, the unspoken understanding, and how someone can make you feel known and valued. In this poem, I wanted to capture those details - the looks, the laughter, and the way love feels effortless when it's right. It's about seeing each other's imperfections, finding them beautiful, and letting love speak even when we don't have the words.
Love is a safe space for us to be ourselves but also to be vulnerable and to keep dreaming and growing, wanting to be better every day.
At least, I feel it that way.
These days, we may feel the world’s end is just around the corner. Sometimes I think it, but then I fall into a particular pair of arms, smell orange and wood in my nose, feel warm in my heart, and there it is in front of me: hope, hope personified by only one person. I can call that person "mine".
And you, what do you think about love? What small moments make your love story unique? How do small gestures or shared laughter bring you closer?
I can feel the tension and typical urgency of love in your poem Ana. Thank you for sharing
